“Ransomware is more about manipulating vulnerabilities in human psychology than the adversary’s technological sophistication.” - James Scott, Sr. Fellow, Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology
Confide is one of the three large encrypted messaging services (Signal and Wire are the other two). However, Confide is unique and a little different than Signal and Wire.
Just like Signal and Wire, Confide is a confidential end-to-end encrypted messaging service. However, after you send a message with Confide, the message is only available for a set amount of time before it self destructs. After this time period expires, the message will disappear and you will be unable to read it again. In addition to this, Confide also protects you from screenshots. If you try to take a screenshot Confide will lock before the picture is taken, making you unable to screenshot the message. Confide also has an iMessage App that lets you send Confide messenger right through iMessage.
Confide is free to use but there is also a Confide Plus version, which is paid. Confide Plus enables you to retract unread messages, change the theme of the app and gives you priority customer support. At $47.99 a year, it is definitely not cheap but if you are sending some very sensitive information you might want to think about purchasing it.
Wire Messenger is a free end-to-end encrypted messenger app for calls, chats, sharing files and more. Some other notable features of Wire is that all of Wire's servers are located in Switzerland, so all of your data is protected by Swiss privacy laws, which are known to be one of the strongest in the world. In addition you can use Wire on your phone, tablet and desktop computer, you can have group chats with up to 128 people, you can send self-destructing timed messages and you can delete or edit a message you sent by mistake. The newest feature offered by wire is the ability to make entirely encrypted voice and video calls. Download it and add me @michaelsolimini and feel free to send me a message!
